Individuals Sports for Visually Impaired Clients
While individuals who have visual impairments may face difficulties in engaging in a lot of physical activities, certain sports or activities can be easily adapted for them. These include stationary cycling, swimming, and walking. These activities are beneficial to visually impaired individuals in various ways but most importantly, they can improve cardiovascular endurance (Senior Fitness, n.d.). This is especially important because people with visual impairments rarely engage in aerobics since they require a lot of guidance.
* Stationary Cycling- Stationary cycling can be done on stationary bicycles which are easily available. Also, they require little or no modification to accommodate people with visual impairment. Since they are stationary, the individual does not require any guidance once they are all set on the bicycle. Participating in such activity will not only improve cardiovascular endurance but also muscular strength and endurance, especially on the lower part of the body.
* Swimming- Swimming is an easily adaptable activity where the use of rope lanes keeps the individual from straying (Senior Fitness, n.d.). Swimming requires little assistance and is effective in improving cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and balance.
* Walking- Taking brisk walks, whether around a room or outdoors, is a great form of low-impact aerobics. When the individual is interested in outdoor walks, a sighted guide can help. The sighted person can extend a small rope to the visually impaired individual to ensure there is contact. Walking has been linked to improved strength and balance, which is important in preventing falls among older, visually impaired individuals (Griffin, Smith, Howe, & Phoenix, 2016).
Marketing Training Services to Older Clients
Older clients, unlike the younger generation, cannot be adequately reached through social media and technology. Marketing to this clientele would require targeting the places they visit most. These places include:
* Retirement communities
* Golf clubs since a substantial number of older adults are members of golf clubs or have friends who are members
* Seniors’ recreational centers
* Nutrition and chiropractic offices- Most seniors may seek the services of these specialists and as such, with the permission of the specialists, I can leave flyers and brochures about my services in their offices.
