Whether Video Games should be considered a Sport
Video games should be recognized as a sport because they take dedication and hard work as well as a lot of practice that are associated with the real sport. Sports are defined using several characteristics that include competition, wins and losses, authentic ability, extreme physical activity, fans and entertainment in stadiums, practice and dedication. Activities such as baseball and football all have the players engage in competition and stir the emotions of the environment. The online organization has already established the term eSports to describe such activities for an ambitious aim for the gaming process, and therefore, video games are a part of the sport.
The games should be regarded as sports because, like any other player in a sport, the participants spend a lot of time training and sharpening their skills. The skills are sharpened to allow them to compete since competition is one of the defining features of a game (Crawford, 52). The participants in a game have to compete against each other in the hope of achieving the victory. In video games, one player has to go head to head and compete against each other, and the winner takes the reward. This is also applicable for video games where the participant plays one against himself through a computer. Even when the participant plays alone on the phone, he is still competing against the system that destroys jobs for purposes of giving it to another.
Sports also demand the relevant ability of the personality. Real sports celebrities are unique and special. They exhibit some sense of athleticism in all their actions. For example, in the real sport, it is impossible to have a basketball player perform at the same level in playing football. Similarly, it is impossible to have a player who knows how to play solitaire to win against a football player because the gamers have a unique ability in their sports. Each of the members playing in different online platforms exhibits unique skills that help him play on air. The exceptional abilities have to be reflected in the players’ ability to respond quickly to the changing dynamics to the mages. Excellent video game players also response quickly to any changes in the landscape of the sport. Therefore, online games are also sports because they require the unique ability of the balanced.
