Implicit bias refers to people's attitudes or stereotypes about others without being aware of it. The perceptions can be either positive or negative and can be based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, or other factors. In nursing, implicit bias can result when nurses make decisions about patient care, such as whom to treat first or what care to provide. Such instances can impact diversity in the health sector, causing some groups of people to receive less effective or even dangerous care than others (Stamps, 2021). Additionally, it can lead to a lack of diversity among nurses since those from certain groups may be unlikely to enter the profession if they believe they will be discriminated against.
