Developing an Implementation Plan

Essay Instructions:

Consider the population in which the solution is intended, the staff that will participate, and the key contributors that must provide approval and/or support for your project to be implemented. These stakeholders are considered your audience.

Develop an implementation plan (1,500-2,000 words) using the "Topic 3: Checklist" resource. The elements that should be included in your plan are listed below:
1.Method of obtaining necessary approval(s) and securing support from your organization's leadership and fellow staff.
2.Description of current problem, issue, or deficit requiring a change. Hint: If you are proposing a change in current policy, process, or procedure(s) when delivering patient care, describe first the current policy, process, or procedure as a baseline for comparison.
3.Detailed explanation of proposed solution (new policy, process, procedure, or education to address the problem/deficit).
4.Rationale for selecting proposed solution.
5.Evidence from your Review of Literature in Topic 2 to support your proposed solution and reason for change.
6.Description of implementation logistics (When and how will the change be integrated into the current organizational structure, culture, and workflow? Who will be responsible for initiating the change, educating staff, and overseeing the implementation process?)
7.Resources required for implementation: staff; educational materials (pamphlets, handouts, posters, and PowerPoint presentations); assessment tools (questionnaires, surveys, pre- and post-tests to assess knowledge of participants at baseline and after intervention); technology (technology or software needs); funds (cost of educating staff, printing or producing educational materials, gathering and analyzing data before, during, and following implementation), and staff to initiate, oversee, and evaluate change.

Developing An Implementation Plan
The field of medicine is one that is highly sensitive. This field plays a crucial role in the survival of the population. In this regard, it requires a high level of caution and care in all of its operations. When approval is required from any quota, the style that is used is of utmost importance. An idea or a project should avoid a scenario whereby it is shoved on its audience without their input. Greater thought should also be given before submitting an idea for approval. Therefore, before this kind of an idea is presented to an organization for approval it is important to get it tested with the personnel responsible and those that might be affected by the changes or the implementation to capture their thoughts and opinions. During this period, important questions and comments might surface to provide more insight on the project's operations. Once such information is obtained, formal meetings can be arranged with the key stakeholders. These meetings are aimed at asking for support from the stakeholders. The meetings also serve as a demonstration to the stakeholders that the project's proponents are interested in their inputs. The stakeholders might also improve and expand an idea by providing information that might not have been considered by the developers of the plan. According to Esmaeilpour and Ahmadi (2011), the more an audience's feelings about a particular proposal are understood, the more the chances it has of getting approved.
Among the bodies that have been tasked with assessing medical projects and assignments to ensure that the participants of a particular project and the overall organization in charge of the research are protected is called Institution Review Board. In order for a plan addressing work place violence to go through this board, it has to be reviewed to assess the possible physical, social, mental and emotional conditions the participants of a particular project will be subjected to. According to IRB's regulations, it is mandatory for projects that involve human participants to be granted with IRB's approval. For approval to be obtained from IRB, a complete proposal with its stipulated measures has to be submitted to this body.
Workplace violence among nurses has been considered as one of the most complex occupational hazards in the healthcare systems of today. Such complications are attributed to a culture whereby the healthcare systems have ignored the fact that healthcare workers are subjected to great risks of violence from the patients. This is usually considered as "part" of the job for the nurses. The nurses are usually subjected to environments where they are faced with violent patients or violence from the relatives of the patients that they handle. This is worsened by the lack of violence prevention strategies and protective regulations (Gates, Gillespie and Succop, 2011). Combined with organizational challenges such as the shortage of staffs, great barriers are experienced towards achieving total violence elimination in today's health care workplace.
The last known review on workplace violence regarding nurses was in the year 1992 whereby this form of violence was declared as an ‘e...
