The United States has a unique health care system compared to other industrialized and stable countries around the globe. This nation does not have universal health care programs for all citizens whereby the coverage is not uniform, according to the system. In other words, the system is described as being hybrid because it has not been implemented in any other country. In spite of all the efforts made by organizations like the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to achieve universal health care system in the US, 9% of all the citizens in the nation live without any medical insurance or health cover (Slaybaugh, 2019). This paper will discuss the comparison between the health care system in the United States and other countries in different aspects like availability and access to medical care.
Health care systems in various countries are evaluated by the five dimensions of health care programs. The care process is sub-divided into four sections which include preventive care involving counseling by health care professionals on the most prevalent diseases, how to prevent them and safe care whereby the patients indicate adherence to medical clinics and prescriptions given by their doctors. Coordinated care includes effective communication between patients, home caregivers and the clinicians with engagement and patient preferences majoring on the length of care delivered by doctors by creating a good patient-clinician relationship based on the choices and goals of the patient (Schneider, Sarnak, Squires, Shah, & Doty, 2017). Access has parts including affordability which reports on patients' failure to take medical care due to high cost or shortcomings in the insurance cover. Timeliness gives information on the period taken by patents to obtain information, book appointments with the doctors and get urgent care in the required time. Administration efficiency covers seven measures whereby four of them discuss the challenges faced by patients like lack of consistent doctors, wrong medical reports and laboratory tests. The other three measures focus on the welfare of the patients by settling all their complaints about aspects like medical insurance and the involvement of government agencies to support their needs. Equity compares the participation of both low and high-income people in different countries, identified after researching the two individual groups in the nation. A big gap between the two categories is interpreted as proof of lower equity among the income contributors in the specific state presented. Health care outcomes include three categories of measures including; population health outcomes, mortality amenable to healthcare and disease-specific health outcomes measures (Schneider, Sarnak, Squires, Shah, & Doty, 2017). These measures compare the mortality rate in different countries; report on the number of elderly people suffering from the most common chronic diseases and the rate of survival of breast and colon cancer.
The most important dimension in all health care systems is accessed. This dimension is significant to me because it describes the most important part of the medication process. Access measures the time taken by a patient before acquiring the right c...
