Visual remapping refers to a technique applied by neurons to update their response from the original motion of the eye to the moment stimulus change on the retina after a saccade. The procedure of visual information remapping originates from the coordination of multiple neural circuits in individuals’ brains, particularly the parietal cortex. Generally, visual information remapping happens in the lateral intraparietal region of the parietal cortex. Each object’s motion in the eye results in variations of the position in the retina despite being known to be stable. Visual remapping compensates shifts in the retinal that result from voluntary eye movements. Before a saccade, attention indicators in the lateral intraparietal (LIP) region highlight crucial features in the visual area to work on pertinent data from neurons holding essential receptor domain from previous visual areas (Rao et al., 2016). After eye movement, as the switches occur in the LLP, the process of retaining saccadic changes determines the sort of data that proceeds to the processing site.
The attention indicators change before the fresh visual inputs arrive from the retina. The movement facilitates the storage of an item’s facts before and after a saccade. Lack of awareness prevents people from noticing data from other variations in the scene. The location of LLP is in a perfect position to gather bottom-up information. Its receptors can collect impulses from various pre-frontal sites and the anterior cingulate cortex, providing top-bottom information. LLP controls attention by direct and indirect casting, which occurs through the thalamus, back to several cortical sites (Leandra et al., 2018).
