Background Statement
It is part of the duty of human resource to ascertain staff’s workload. This is however, only made possible if employees fill out their monthly reports. The only other way to know that they are under heavy workload is if they come and inform me about it, or give suggestions to deal with the problem. It would be a daunting task for me to defend them if I have no idea of what they are doing. Clarity in communication is important since its failure can cost one’s job in the long run.
Major Problems and Secondary Issues
The main issue here is Bob’s failure to find the time to fill forms on the workload he has. He cites a lot of work and clients as the reasons for his failure to fill and submit these forms. He takes these forms to be trivial compared to serving clients. The secondary issue is his failure to communicate clearly about his predicament. He believes and expects to be understood by everyone, that he is extremely busy (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012).
Major characters and their roles
The main characters in this case include Bob, who is the psychologist, Harriet who is his boss, and Daniels, who is the Principal. Bob’s role as a psychologist is to tend to clients who might visit in need of psychiatric help, such as the 10-year old suicidal girl and her mother. Harriet’s role is to address the needs of the organization in relation to the workforce. Daniels as the Principal, forms part of the administration, and plays an important role in the organization’s decision-making process.
