With the change in technology and lifestyle, the families in the US have succumbed to various changes. The family dynamics are as a result of the changes in ideologies and beliefs among individuals. People no longer think as their ancestors used to and they have become more open-minded on how they view various issues today. By 2040, the family structures are more likely to undergo total and diverse changes.
In the year 2040, the families in the US are more likely to be ethnically diverse; this is because interracial marriages are currently embraced and are more apt to increase in the future. It has been estimated by the US bureau of census that about 1/5 of the US population are likely to be foreign-born individuals by the year 2040. Many families are likely to be headed by single parents. The number of single-headed households has been on the steady rise since the 1960s, and the trend is most likely to continue to the year 2040. The societal norms have changed, and single motherhood is no longer questioned. Technology has also facilitated single motherhood through in-vitro fertilization technology, which enhances mothers' ability to sire and raise their children.
