Same Sex Marriage Law as the Most Controversial Rulings Made by The Supreme Court of USA

Essay Instructions:

Please read topic:
Briefly describe a specific law or policy that you are familiar with.
Does it follow an ethic of justice or an ethic of care?
How so?
Does the specific law or policy impact men and women differentially?
Then read students response: A specific law I am familiar with is the marriage law. The marriage law is controversial because marriage only used to be legal between a man and a woman. It did not legalize same sex marriage until 2015 almost 50 years after the gay rights movement era began. Although it is legal in all 50 states there is still discrimination against same sex couples however, this law made history for gay rights. This law follows a combination of ethics of justice and ethics of care. It ensures everyone the right to marriage providing justice for people who were previously denied the right to marry. It follows an ethics of care because it followed an ethical approach to assess the right for same sex couples to marry through the Supreme Court which established this overruling Nationally and Federally so no state or lower court can deny the right to marriage. I don't think this law impacts different sexes differently so much as it does with people different sexuality. For example, heterosexual/straight couples may discriminate against same sex couples for whatever reason. People have different beliefs about this law based on their religious beliefs or personal beliefs. That is what makes this law so historical because it surpassed the beliefs of so many powerful people who were against same sex marriage and legalized same sex marriage across the Nation in attempt to prevent further discrimination which is now unfortunately happening in other aspects of marriages/weddings and made the right to marry equally obtainable for anyone. What you write: Tell what you agree/disagree, like/dislike, any questions, etc.

Yes, I agree with you on that. For many ages humanity believed that a marriage was a union of a man and woman, thus the emergence of same sex relationships and even a thought of marriage has ever confused and made angry many groups of people basically because of their beliefs. This led to discrimination and stereotyping of same sex couples, but the law sets them free and offers them the right to marry and have...
