The principle of respect for persons is important since managers have to give consideration for all people seeking health care services. By embracing this principle, patients feel welcome and cared for while in the institution, thus improving the ratings of the health care service provided (Darr, 2011, p.17). Furthermore, a show of respect to colleagues and juniors creates an environment that fosters teamwork among the members, thus further improving service delivery. The respect thus cuts across all aspects, especially for managers, since they must show it for the effect to trickle down to others under him/her.
When managers embrace this principle of respect, it brings about an aspect of owed and earned respect. Owed respect refers to the inherent value that each human being has, thus requiring treatment with dignity. On the other hand, earned respect relates to individuals' accomplishments, thus appreciating the efforts put in place (James, 2018).
