Complete the Hospital Application assignment prior to beginning this assignment. Based on the Hospital Application assignment, you have determined that not only does the orientation program for new employees need to be revised, but a new professional development program needs to be created for existing employees.
Part I: New Employee Orientation
The purpose of this assignment is to create an expanded outline or blueprint for a new employee orientation program that explains how it can be used to prepare employees.
Continuing in the role of the hospital administrator from the Hospital Care Application assignment, you are required to create a blueprint or an expanded outline of the new employee orientation program for the Director of Human Resources (your supervisor), who will decide whether or not to implement the program.
Using what you have learned from the assigned readings and your own research, formulate new employee orientation program to train new hires. Include the following elements:
A training schedule that includes the necessary preparation needed to provide the training (who, what, when, where, why, and how), as well as a description of the practice training activities and feedback you will provide.
A description of written materials, such as handouts, to be provided during the training.
A description of at least one computer-, Web-, or DVD-based training element that will be used in the program, including consideration of the idea that staff may have varying levels of technology readiness.
Explanation of how the new employee orientation program is related to motivation and retention. Include discussion of the financial incentives provided to employees.
Part II: Professional Development Program
The purpose of this assignment is to develop an expanded outline or blueprint for a new professional development program for existing employees and to explain how the program can be used retain quality employees. Consider how the organization leverages workforce diversity to encourage employees to collaborate and apply their unique talents.
Continuing in the role of the hospital administrator from the Hospital Care Application assignment, you are required to create a blueprint or an expanded outline of the professional development program for the Director of Human Resources (your supervisor), who will decide whether or not to implement the program.
Using what you have learned from the assigned readings and your own research, formulate a professional development program for existing employees. Include the following elements:
The focus of the program, which could include a combination of the following: learning new skills, additional certifications, licensure, and cross-training for other areas not usually assigned.
A training schedule that includes the necessary preparation needed to provide the training (who, what, when, where, why, and how), as well as a description of the practice training activities and feedback you will provide.
Description of written materials, such as handouts, to be provided during the training.
A description of at least one computer-, Web-, or DVD-based training element that will be used in the program, including consideration of the idea that staff may have varying levels of technology readiness.

Companies and organizations hire the right person to work in their companies but even the most intelligent person requires training in a new setting to understand how the institution runs. Therefore training is important to help increase performance, productivity, improve customer appearance and the relationship between manager and employee to be improved. This is also required in existing employees not only recently employed for efficient and satisfactory results to the management, stakeholders, and customers.
Employee training follows various steps with the first being orientation which aims at helping the employee learn the various policies of the company. This process helps reduce tensions and anxiety in a new employee, the start-up cost is reduced, employee turnover is reduced, prepare the employee while setting the expectations and attitudes that the hospital will require from the member of staff. This also helps in maintaining the employees from leaving the hospital hence prove high chances for retaining employees (Breaugh &Satrke,2000). Orientation also gives out or designs the payroll for the new staff hence making it a lot easier to pay them in the first period of salary release.
Financial costs are cut down when the turnover rates for employees is reduced because the cost of recruiting a different person to fill the gap is twice expensive than the employee's salary. This is because there is training cost, employees' salary, morale reduction and low performance among other costs. The training will take place in the conference room; will be headed by the head of departments, the matter of discussion will be introducing the new staff, through the use of DVDs that will be displaying information on the monitors because the training helps staff feel welcomed and motivated.
In house-training is the second step in the training of a new employee where a specific job for example in our setting the employees would be trained according to their specialty. According to Murphy, 2009 the employee is then allocated a mentor who in this case has years of experience in the same field as that of the new staff hence will be helping him or she go through hospital processes. Witt (2005), says that IBM views mentoring as a process not left to the human resource department alone. Lastly, the employees will be taken to seminars to help further their skills or encourage them to continue studying.
