Electronic health record is a digital platform that is used by the healthcare organizations to record and trace the medical history of the patients. Many hospitals are currently abolishing the many and traditional way of storing healthcare records. EHR occurs in many platforms. Every version of EHR has both advantages and demerits. For instance, EPIC is one of the digital platforms that has been in the Health IT for more than 50 years. EPIC was founded in 1979 is largely concerned with the large medical groups as well as inpatient settings. It is currently the best digital platform because it has efficient and software that is easy to use by the healthcare providers (Bishwajit, 2016). CERNER is the second EHR platform that is the largest provider of efficient systems for the inpatient care. Just like EPIC, CERNER was founded in 1979and currently employs more than 20,000 workers at the global level.
The future of healthcare is bright with Electronic Health Records. One main function of EHR is that it fosters the relationship between patients and clinicians. It provides the required data of the patients with thein the required time and allow the clinicians to make decisions regarding the health status of the clients. Similarly, this new technology reduces medical error by improving the accuracy as well as clarity in the medical data. Similarly, the electronic platform reduces duplication of tests, minimize delays in the treatment of patients and it allows the customers to trace the medical history.
