Cardiac or heart diseases have become more common nowadays than ever before, especially among older adults. They are also called cardiovascular diseases (CVD). CVDs are a group of diseases that majorly affect the blood circulatory system. They include artery, heart pressure, and valvular diseases. Heart failure is a disease that simply results in a lesser than normal functioning of the heart. Heart failure has become a common heart disease, especially to older people, and those suffering from obesity are also exposed to the risk. It constitutes over 20% on the average of heart diseases in the states. This has raised concern on the government, and the world health organization to increase awareness on the precautionary and prevention measures of the disease. This discussion focuses on heart failure, its causes, effects, and how it can be prevented.
Causes
Most cardiovascular diseases are usually a product of people’s lifestyles. Congestive heart failure (CHF) is also greatly contributed to, by the same. It is caused by excess alcohol, artery diseases, and other valvular complications which leads to failure of the heart to pump enough blood as it should. It is also caused by other complications such as high blood pressure and any other condition that result in overworking or overloading of the heart. In other scenarios, the cause of CHF is a malfunction of the valves as a result of some previous surgical procedure. The heart pumps blood in fewer quantities, which does not fill the arteries as required.
