A capstone experience, also known as a capstone unit or project, serves as the culminating & integrative experience of an educational program. Often, capstone experience involves interrogating a phenomenon in nursing or healthcare-based scientific methods and concepts of research design, data collection, and data analysis techniques. The capstone project's investigation question is often formulated based on the PICO(t). Therefore, the current paper aims to create a graduate-level capstone experience based on the applicability of PICO(t) critical elements.

Population
Today, obesity is a pandemic owing to the increasingly obesogenic environment. This environment is enabled by the prevalence of inexpensive calorie-dense food, structures of communities, and technologies that replace physical activity with cheap forms of entertainment that demand minimum physical activities. Therefore, children and adolescents are increasingly exposed to obesity risks because of the lifestyle created by these factors. Some researchers have argued that the prevalence of obesity risks today is the foundation for a future population of obese adults. Therefore, adolescents are the ideal population for preventing future diabetes prevalence because they can understand health education and have incentives to make ideal life choices.
Intervention
Interventions for treatment and management of obesity range from pharmacological to non-pharmacological therapies. Of the two, the latter is significantly cheaper and accessible to almost all populations. Examples of such therapies include diet interventions where the responsible choice of a diet regime is expected to reduce obesity development risks. For instance, long et al. (2021) conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to investigate the effectiveness of dietary interventions on weight outcomes in childhood. Results from the study indicate a significant decrease in BMI in this population through diet intervention. Thus, the intervention, in this case, is diet therapy.
