Covid19 Changing the World

Essay Instructions:

COVID-19 undoubtedly has made impact on the lives of many U.S. citizens. It has also altered the healthcare environment as well. Price (2020) noted that COIVD-19 “brought unprecedented strain on hospitals and clinics, from a shortage of testing and medical supplies to issues in access among rural and underserved populations. The disease has put a spotlight on some of these inequities, while also revealing holes in the healthcare delivery system that can have lasting side effects on patients and providers” (para. 1).
Discuss 2 or 3 lasting impacts caused by COVID-19 on the healthcare delivery system and explain how leaders and organizations will need to adjust to the “long-term footprints” of COVID-19. In addition, independently deliberate how the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke will regain trust among staff, future residents, and the community.

The world has drastically changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing governments to establish a clear set of rules and norms to reduce the mortalities and morbidities worldwide. The rules also serve to guide nations to move on after surviving the pandemic to prevent many societies’ crumbling. This is important to maintain stability and prosperity in the future. Despite the efforts, long-lasting impacts have been foreseen, mainly due to the continuously diminishing trust rating of health facilities, like the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke.
The most pressing issue that has a long-term effect on the public is the lack of trust in the healthcare system and the government. The difficulties faced in controlling the virus’s spread reflected a decrease in hospital visits despite increased people’s morbidities. Moreover, the reduction in resources, such as food and shelter, contributes to the government’s continuing lack of trust. When the necessities are not met, the people are inclined to prioritize these over their health. The cycle of prioritizing necessities over health results in an increase in mortalities worldwide, thereby continuously reducing the public’s overall trust CITATION Pri20 \l 13321 (Price, 2020).
Additionally, many workers, including health professionals, face high exposure to the virus, increasing infection risk. The healthcare providers primarily experience the negative impact of the pandemic due to the high-stress levels secondary to increased pressure in taking care of critically ill patients, job burnout, and fear of getting or transmitting the infection to their families and friends. These harm their overall well-being, particularly if the government fails to address the problems. Currently, many health providers suffer from depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, burnout, and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) from witnessing many deaths in a single day (Burdorf et al., 2020; Gordon et al., 2020).
The possible long-term adverse effects to the health providers also have consequences to the patients and other stakeholders. For instance, the psychological impact for staff in care homes has been well recounted. A ten-fold increase in mortality in care homes has been reported at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because the healthcare staff usually have a deep connection with their patients, the death or increase in...
