One area that could benefit from a shift in focus is mental health care. Currently, many mental health services are provided in clinical settings, such as a therapist's office or a psychiatric hospital. This can make accessing mental health care difficult for some individuals, as they may feel uncomfortable or stigmatized when they visit these locations. Additionally, this approach puts the onus on the individual to seek out and pursue mental health care, which can be a barrier for those who don't know where to start or don't have the resources to make appointments.
One potential solution to this issue is incorporating mental health services into more community settings. For example, public libraries or community centers could host drop-in mental health clinics, where people can come for a consultation without an appointment (Wakida et al.). Additionally, mental health professionals could partner with other organizations, such as schools or religious organizations, to offer mental health workshops or support groups. By bringing mental health services into the community, they may become more accessible to those who are hesitant to seek them out in a clinical setting.
