Overview of the Topic
The identified issue for the community project is mental health issues and efforts to reduce their prevalence and provide continuous psychosocial support to maintain a good mental health status within the community. Since mental health issues have different originating factors for different people, it is also expected that it can have unique implications that affect not only the person with mental health issues but also the people around them, like their friends, families, and even their colleagues.
Importance of the Topic to Community and Community Members
Reducing the prevalence and incidence of mental health issues in the community is critical to maintaining a functional society where members contribute to the betterment of their community. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emphasizes that managing and preventing mental health issues can help people “handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices” (CDC, 2022). Furthermore, promoting a good quality of life through wellness and psychosocial support can have positive implications for the personal lives of community members and the population as a whole.
