What and Why of My Memorial Service or Funeral

Essay Instructions:

Plan your own memorial service or funeral.
You are to think carefully through what you would want to happen at any event or set of events that would take place in your honor and for the consolation of your loved ones. The simplest would be to create an “order of service” which would indicate in a step-by-step manner the kinds of things that would happen. That may be a formal way of doing it. Maybe you don’t want something so formal. Perhaps you’d rather just throw a big party. But at the party, what will happen?
Some categories to think of: Who is invited to your event/funeral/memorial service and who (if anyone) will lead it. Who will participate by offering readings/reflections/memories? Will there be any scriptural or poetic texts used, or any more modern kinds of media? Apart from texts (if any) what kinds of gestures, ceremonies, non-verbal symbols do you want to be deployed to honor you and console your mourners? What do you want the people who come to leave with either as physical objects or as the impressions that will remain with them?
Try not to just say what’s going to be happening but include why it’s going to happen. Think what significance is it going to have or do you intend it to have? A successful completion of this project will both clearly describe the “what” of your funeral, but also the “why.”

I would wish for a cremation to make the burial affordable, and the space used in burials could be used for a better purpose. Organizing someone's burial should never be expensive; therefore, my burial should be as affordable as possible for my family. After being cremated, I wish to have a memorial service that my local church will lead. Those invited to the memorial service include my family members, friends, current and former colleagues, the local church group, and the local community.
My body will be moved from the funeral home to the crematorium on the day of the cremation. The people who would attend the transfer of my body are my closest family members and not more than three friends. I want the cremation to be attended by very few people, and those who want to lay their last respect to do so during the memorial service. The local pastor shall lead the memorial service at the memorial service by conducting the sermon and praying to God to allow my soul in heaven. The scriptural text used during the memorial should come from the bible. I am a Christian, so the verses should come from the bible. The denomination that should lead the service is the Presbyterian. ...
