As a stakeholder in implementing evidence-based change, I use evidence-based practice (EBP) canons to make informed choices concerning patient care. I work from a holistic, patient-centered framework by integrating the optimal existing credible evidence into practice. As a nurse, I play a critical role in using the EBP approach to analyze and appraise recent, best clinical information to justify my care services. This entails ensuring that change implementation is anchored on best external evidence, draws from clinical expertise, and considers patient expectations and values (The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, 2020). In implementing the evidence-based change, I was provided with the research behind the change. Accordingly, I reviewed all evidence sources to develop a consensus on the existing body of information available to support the change implementation and nursing practice.
