The necessary elements for a comprehensive mental health evaluation include understanding the current illness, psychiatric treatment history, family history, substance abuse history, social and developmental history, sexual history, and medical history. All these subjects were covered except for Jack’s sexual history.
2. What are the key considerations of Jack’s presentation? Did Jack accomplish all the expected developmental milestones typical for his age?
The main considerations of Jack’s presentation are his obsession with dinosaurs and getting irritated and angry when told to focus on the MSE. Jack demonstrated an age appropriate use of the English vocabulary, which suggests that he has accomplished language and education milestone. 6-year-olds also posses’ complex linguistic capabilities that they use to express themselves while communicating and playing with friends (Guerra et al., 2012). In contrast, Jack pays little attention to friends and does not participate in social play. This indicates that he has not accomplished social and emotional development milestones expected for 6-year-olds.
