Purpose of the Project
A Quality Improvement (QI) project involves systematic and progressive steps towards measurable objectives to serve the purpose of improving health care services to a given target group (Weiner, Alexander, Shortell, Baker, & Becker, 2006). Quality in healthcare can be derived from the level of improved services in comparison to the target level of services in a particular health institution or region. Our community health center strives to achieve quality health services to the target population by focusing on the following areas in the facility.
The primary purpose of this initiative is to improve patient satisfaction. Patient centeredness aims to impact the quality of patient experience in our organization directly. We seek to implement a continuous improvement of patient satisfaction in a distinct process. Safety is paramount in any organization. In our quality improvement project, we value the need to improve and instill safety to everyone located within our premise. Thirdly, this project aims to curtail financial costs incurred in our day to day operations. Managing financial costs will help broaden services and improve the quality of services offered to our patients in the target community as stated by Bialek, Duffy, and Moran (2009).
Targeted Population
The major population targeted in this initiative is that of patients that seek medical services at the health center. This community is made up of the children, young and senior men and women. Most of the cases reported entail minor surgeries, pregnancy and birth services, minor illness and accidents. The target group is also characterized by health workers, nurses, and clinicians in the organization. The quest to attain quality services and improve safety in the organization must involve everyone in the organization. Hence, patient and health provision population will be included in this project. Patient care in all the services enlisted above is paramount in a quality service experience by visiting patients from the community.
Benefits of the Program
Quality improvement initiatives aim at bettering the patient experience through service delivery (Herzer, Niessen, Constenla, Ward, & Pronovost, 2014). Both the implementing organization and the target population enjoy the benefits resulting from the program. The nature of advantages deprived of the project depends on the objectives and the intended purpose of the initiative. From the objective section of this summary, particular issues have been identified.
The first benefit status that the project aims to achieve is better health for the patient. Improvement parameters include faster recovery from ailing, and reduced morbidity within the health center and the community. Improving customer experience involves improved services that will quench patient expectations. The health organization values patient feedback and perception of management in the hospital.
