Introduction
I believe in this crowd there are parents who have children within this community. As my constituents, what would be the appropriate approach in responding to your children probably in an adolescent stage who commit serious crimes within the community? I presume that this would be a tough question to respond to, a factor that clearly depicts the need of community corrections. Historically, it was automatic that our criminally delinquent children would get locked in juvenile correctional facilities and forgotten with the intention of protecting the public, a factor that has been overcome by the element of time.
Our children have overtime paid the price for their offences with their teenage years, a factor that has resulted in the development of different character traits that believe the community is not home to them. This determines my aspirations as one of the contestants in this coming elections to determine the reasons as to why community corrections may be a better and appropriate approach in dealing with criminal offences within this community as compared to prison sentences.
