Acute diseases are conditions, ailments, and afflictions that are severe and sudden at the beginning. This condition lasts for a short time, but it can result in death. A disease is considered to be an acute case in the United States if it lasts for a few days or weeks. Some examples of acute diseases include Influenza, Pneumonia, Common Cold, Heart attack, Strep throat, Flu, and Asthmatic attacks (Medline Plus, 2019). In contrast, chronic cases are diseases and conditions that are syndromes that take time to develop. A disease is considered to be a chronic case in the United States if it lasts for more than three months or more. Examples of chronic diseases include Arthritis, Depression, Alzheimer’s disease, High blood pressure, Diabetes, Obesity, Stroke, Heart disease, and Obesity (Fitzpatrick et al., 2018).
