Teaching, the process of imparting knowledge and understanding of the different concepts and skills defining the equally diverse disciplines on students across all the levels of study, makes for one of the important professions around the world. Achieving the desired outcomes for students across the different levels of study depends on teachers’ ability to integrate the underlying elements characterizing effective teaching practices. Among the underlying elements of effective teaching practices include teaching strategies, use of practical experiences, teachers’ passion and judgment, and responsiveness to the diverse learning needs of students across the different levels of study. The Marzano Teacher Evaluation Model offers a detailed guideline on how teachers can improve their delivery in classrooms towards reaching the desired positive outcomes upon completion of the learning curriculums. The comprehensive teacher evaluation model consists of 60 elements divided across four key domains to improve the teachers’ efficiency in exercising their practice. The four key domains outlined in the Marzano Teacher Evaluation Model include classroom strategies and behaviors, planning and preparing, reflecting on teaching, as well as collegiality and professionalism CITATION Mar17 \l 1033 (Marzano, 2017). Classroom strategies and behaviors, for instance, play a significant role in enhancing my teaching skills in understanding the specific student learning needs as it allows for the use of different strategies for improving students’ performances. The elements of the domain further play a significant role in enhancing the communication of learning outcomes, establishing the code of conduct in class, and helping students interact with the newly acquired knowledge and concepts taught in class. The preparation and planning domain is integral to the development of an effective teaching approach to all the content of the syllabus and the implementation of learning programs for students with special needs or attention. Such an approach proves vital in the overall improvement of class performance through careful assessment, preparation, planning, and implementation of effective teaching practices.
The Marzano Teaching Evaluation Model also emphasizes the need to reflect on individual performance as a teacher, which allows one to grow and develop in the teaching profession.
