The world is rapidly changing in all aspects of life. Looking at the education there has been a drastic evolvement over the decades. As new technology continues to emerge, the face of education is also changing. This is evident where classwork is being replaced by online classwork which helps the learner to take classes from anywhere in the world. Subsequently, in politics and economic world, a skilled population is a key towards development and stability. Education has highly improved people’s lives comparing the most developed countries, the developing and least developed. In developed countries like US and UK, manpower has advanced highly, therefore, their social political and economic status have got heights to reach.
In order to achieve a skilled manpower, democratic education has been highly advocated in school curriculum teaching. When students are given equal choiceswith their teacher'sdemocratic values such as self-determination justice respect and trust are developed. According to Jean 1762, books do not teach personal judgment and experience. Instead, it uses another person’s reasoning and never given a chance to discover anything on their own.Democratic education, therefore, gives the student the opportunity to make their own decisions with the help of their mentor which then exposes them to a real-world situation. Therefore this paper seeks to explore the role of teachers towards teaching in democracy and the impact of set policies towards their performance.
Freedom is not given freely, neither is a democracy. You have to fight for democracy. These are word echoed by a Russian university lecturer. Teachers are the sole proprietors towards democracy development and their desire to promote democracy is mainly based on how they relate with their students. Teaching in a democracy is one of the easiest and most enjoyable methods of teaching. It creates an interactive environment with the involved and a sense of capability by the student and release of too much work by the teacher. It helps to measure the teacher’s performance on imparting knowledge and skills to their students.
Teachers are souls that need to be highly respected. They make a thousand decisions every moment in a child’s live. They make complex ideas and information understandable in young minds which is a complex task. Anyone can teach, but teaching is a calling. Despite the fact teachers holds one life, they are the worst paid considering they make doctors, financiers, politicians and high profiles in the countries. Higher salaries should be paid to teachers for motivation towards their work to remove the possibility of seeing teaching as a charity work or hard labor. In the United States today, teachers teach in democracy. This is mainly based in three elements of voice and choice of players, school control and tolerance of differences.
