Artificial intelligence is one of the topics/ concepts that I find most captivating. Whenever I am reading or engaging with this topic, I often lose track of time. Artificial intelligence refers to knowledge-based systems that are programmed to have some capabilities of the human person (Dick, 2019). An example of such capabilities is learning. A branch of artificial intelligence called machine learning deals with programming computers in such a way that they can learn. Additionally, artificial intelligence has other branches that promise to revolutionize the computing world.
There are several reasons why I find the topic of artificial intelligence captivating. First, I am amazed at how a computer can be granted the possibilities that have belonged only to man for ages. Take, for instance, Sophia the robot. This robotic has been programmed in such a sophisticated manner that it can talk with humans (Retto, 2017). In fact, the robot has been invited to several television shows to be interviewed. Amazingly, it answers the questions asked with precision near to that of human beings. Secondly, I am perplexed by the possibilities that artificial intelligence promises to bring. For instance, in the near future, we could have robotics with the ability to perform surgeries.
