Personality Tests Have Been Gaining Attention Recently
Introduction
Personality tests have been gaining attention recently, especially in psychology. Although personality tests were traditionally limited to medical practice, current trends indicate that their applicability extends beyond this area. Following this, multiple tests have been developed to measure personality. This report has considered four significant tests: the measure of emotional intelligence, Jungian assessment, type A and B personality indicators, and the New Enneagram Test. The report aims to review these tests and provide a detailed evaluation. In addition, it seeks to compare and contrast these measures as discussed earlier, identify what the writer has learned in the process, and devise an appropriate strategy to help maximize the strengths and improve on the weaknesses based on the assessment.
Part 1
In this section, the various test considered will be discussed from the medical practice perspective and how they apply in leadership. To begin with, emotional intelligence has been identified as critical to the practice, especially since it helps improve the patient-practitioner relationship (Lambert, 2021). This improvement is facilitated by the practitioners’ understanding of their patients’ emotions which is critical to service delivery. Within this context, Lucas (2021) provides a clear description of why emotional intelligence is vital in medical practice, noting that it helps practitioners understand themselves and the people they serve and use the information gained in decision-making. This assessment fits with the Jungian personality test, which gives one an overview of their personality and behavior. The test is vital in measuring practitioners’ preferences for dealing with clients, processing information, and making decisions in medical practice. According to Akam and Yahya (2018), the most crucial aspect of the test is that it aligns with the conscious and unconscious aspects of one’s personality. The type A and type B test is vital as it determines how people conduct themselves professionally. In practice, it shows the extent to which people are ambitious, aggressive, competitive, preoccupied with status, and hostile in work (Feng et al., 2017). Based on the elements mentioned, type A individuals tend to have high scores, while type B individuals have lower scores. The last personality test considered is the new enneagram test used for personal self-knowledge, which is critical for personality development. The test focuses on an individual’s motivation and how it can be utilized in various areas of life.
Based on the leadership assessments discussed above, the following attachments represent the results of the individual test conducted under each category.
Part 2
This section is primarily based on the test results, as indicated by the attachments above. The main focus is to compare and contrast the results, discuss what the student learned in the process, suggest a strategy improve the weaknesses identified, and leverage on the strengths. Based on the tests conducted, the results indicate that the student scored 60 points on the emotional intelligence test. This limit indicates a fair understanding of emotio...
