People living with learning disabilities are susceptible to illness as compared to the general population. People with learning disabilities have varied health needs that are unmet because the knowledge of the caregivers regarding their medical history and other possible health problem is insufficient. In an article by McClimens, A., Brennan, S., & Hargreaves, P. (2015). Hearing problems in the learning disability population: is anybody listening, the authors present a study to assess the limited knowledge among service providers who overlook some of the health challenges facing people with learning disabilities (McClimens, Brennan & Hargreaves, 2015).
According to the article, people with learning disability experience hearing problems than other people, however the problem is not easily identified by a doctor or other caregivers .
