Abstract
The primary purpose of this paper is to discuss leadership characteristics. It has its central focus on components that make a good leader and study the styles and leadership characteristics that are portrayed Jeff Bezos of Amazon. It compares my leadership skills and those of Jeff Bezos and analyzes how environmental factors and innovation can influence my approach to leadership.
Characteristics of an effective leader
- They are high achievers; effective leaders have a strong vision and stipulate ways in which they will arrive at their vision.
- Effective leaders support others; they want to see each and everyone grow into what they desire to be. They, therefore, portray good listening skills and they feel proud when one individual achieves success. They help in mentorship and act as a source of encouragement to others.
- Effective leaders also build up their relationships with others; they exercise great skills in team playing. The fact that they are warm makes them even friendlier to approach since they are collaborative. These skills aim at developing other people and making sure that they add value to their lives.
The organization of Jeff Bezos and the services provided by Amazon
Jeff is an organized man. His philosophy is building a unique culture, taking risks and focusing on the long run goals of the organization. He believes that being obsessed with the customers is far much better than being obsessed with competitors. He has organized his employees to think like business owners. The Amazon is an American company that was established in July 1994 located in Seattle. It is regarded as the biggest internet based retailer in the world offers some services in retail goods such as electronics, kitchenware grocery and even games that are purchased on an online. The company provides an online auction which was initiated in 1999. Users can sell new and used products online. Through a service called AmazonFresh, it initiated a service in grocery delivered the grocery at the doorstep of customers.
The company also established a shipping service for members. The service is operational within the United States at a pay a twelve-monthly fee. The service is called the Amazon Prime, and it was expanded to Germany and even the United Kingdom. Another service offered by the Amazon is the Amazon Honor system that permits users to purchase digital content or offer contributions.
