Teachers should reflect on their own values and beliefs in order to understand any underlying effects these beliefs may have on their instruction and interaction styles with students. Such awareness can help teachers be more objective, have more empathy and understanding of others, and set the tone for a respectful and cooperative learning environment.
Prepare a 500 -750 word reflective essay on the topic of diversity and learning environments. Within your essay, address the following:
Describe personal frames of reference regarding cultural, linguistic, and gender differences.
Reflect upon how your personal background and frames of reference can, however unintentionally, create bias in your relationships with students and families, how you design instruction, and the classroom environment you promote.
Describe specific ways to decrease potential bias in your classroom, including ways to incorporate your students’ abilities, interests, and cultural and linguistic backgrounds into the learning environment.

Classroom environments involve specific groups of people and accommodate students from diverse backgrounds and forms, including gender-based, phonological, and cultural variances (Gregory & Fergus, 2017). In a learning environment, different instructors and learners adopt individual frames of references concerning these variances. Frames of references can be described as unique past experiences, beliefs, values, and attitudes referred to by a person when interpreting their life experiences. The reference frames give individuals a personalized view of the world based on their perceptions of things. Instructors are responsible for ensuring they establish a multicultural learning environment that accommodates learners from various backgrounds.
My frames of reference concerning gender differences are that boys should behave less passively than girls and are required to be more curious and active even in a classroom setup. Male in our culture is described as competitive, assertive and aggressive. At the same time, females are supportive and collaborative. Regarding culture, cultural differences created by our societies are very real, meaning the differences we acknowledge as individuals are influenced by factors that include socioeconomic status, training, and upbringing. The aspect of my culture that I identify with most and my frame of reference is that cultural beliefs are an effective way of ensuring moral behavior within a learning environment and the community. Other cultural beliefs also train learners to be responsible inside and outside of a classroom. Linguistic differences can affect students' performance in school positively or negatively depending on its effect on the language being used to educate them. Some linguistic backgrounds may make it easier to understand English or make it harder.
