State standard
The standards of 2nd grade mathematical practice, in the State of Arizona, engage students to grow in mathematical maturity and expertise throughout elementary, middle school and high school. Students are expected to make sense of problems and be successful in solving them. Also, the students can use appropriate strategic tools including models with mathematics to reason abstractly and quantitatively (Arizona Mathematics Standards: 2nd Grade Standards Placemat, 2018).

The students will be able to understand geometric reasoning using shapes and attributes.

50-100 word description of learning activity aligned to objective:
In the first part of the activity, the students are asked to identify and describe the specific characteristics of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes depending on the following criteria: shape of faces, number of angels, number of sides and/or vertices. Additionally, the second part of the activity will instruct the students to draw the specific shape that is being described on the specified attributes, including both two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes.

50-100 word description of how the activity differentiates for students in various stages of cognitive development:
The children at this grade are mostly still at the preoperational stage based on Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. These children can mentally represent and refer to objects using words of pictures. The activity will help in the cognitive development of this stage since it requires the processing the visual elements of shape. Also, the activity will cater to the developments of the student’s spatial intelligence to think and process visual information and images to refine their hand eye coordination.

Grade 6; Science

State standard
Standards of 6th grade science in Arizona, specifically life sciences, includes the development and usage of models to demonstrate the interdependence of organisms and their environment including biotic and abiotic factors. Additionally, the construction of a model that shows the cycling of matter and flow of energy in ecosystems are included. (Arizona Science Standards, 2018).
