First of all, it is important to acknowledge that times have changed and some of the routine things that were done in the office, now seem archaic. The definition or description of professionalism has continued to change over time and employers have become increasingly flexible and accommodative. Initially, how people dress while going to work was deemed as one of the most important elements of professionalism. Currently, people focus more on productivity and less on dress code. Making appearances in the office also seemed crucial and went a long way in explaining how one is serious in their job.
