According to Hocker and Wilmort (2017), “Conflict is an expressed struggle between at least two interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals” (p.3). From this definition, aspects of conflict include expressed struggle, interdependence, incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference.
While most expressed struggles are activated by a triggering event according to Hocker and Wilmort (2017), I prefer speaking up before things get out of hand. Once I notice a change of atmosphere or behavior in a person, I become concerned immediately and try to solve the problem at that moment.
