The general story formula provides a guideline that all stories must follow. As per the formula, all stories must start with a problem for at least one of the characters (Potter, 2016). As the story develops, the characters try to overcome hurdles on the path of their goal. The character often comes into conflict with ideas, institutions, or other characters. The conflict becomes a vital part of the story until the climax is reached and the conflict is resolved. As noted by Potter (2016), the stories that conform to the general story formula often have the largest audiences. The more people interact with entertainment messages, the more they get to learn the story formula.
