Velentzas & Broni (2014) referred to communication as the “meaningful exchange of information between two or a group of people.” They also explained that it is when a person speaks to another person or group and can give or receive information. From here, the discussion of the difference between listening and hearing, different listening behaviors in various situations, and barriers will be discussed.
Janusik (2002) described listening as a process of receiving information, then deriving its meaning, and providing feedback at the end. Erlmann (2020) also described listening as an intentional hearing where a person wholeheartedly hears the other party, while in the case of hearing, it was the opposite as he described the hearing as always monological.
