The death of Michael Jackson led to a two-year legal battle to determine who was responsible. On November 7th, the California jury found Dr. Conrad Murray of involuntary manslaughter. According to Kim (2014), the last of half of the icon’s career was characterized by a growing dependence on antidepressants, painkillers, and sleeping pills. In the month leading to the death of the “King of Pop”, Murray had supplied him with powerful medications. One of these medications was a dose of propofol that led to the death of the singer. Although Jackson self-administered the medication, it was the belief of prosecutors that the physician administered and over-prescribed various drugs that amounted to criminal medical negligence (Kim, 2014).
