Firm/Industry that has been impacted by COVID19. Business & Marketing

Our previous discussion was related to health care policy and its connection to market failures. Since COVID-19 is impacting society and the economy in a myriad of ways I thought it would be especially relevant to discuss. Our focus in the past several weekshas been on various market structures and how their markets work. For example, how a firm figures out when to shut down or stay in business and when they are earning a profit or a loss. We have discussed how the market structures differ in terms of the numberof firms, barriers to entry, and competition among other things. In this discussion think of a firm/industry impacted by COVID-19. What firm & industry did you think of? What is themarket structure that best resembles that firm/industry and why? Do firms in that industry engage in advertising or other marketing tools? How many firms are there and do they compete with one another? Is the product differentiated or standardized? Is thefirm likely experiencing profits or losses during this time? What might make them shut down in the short run and long run? Will firms likely enter or exit the business you are thinking of? Are there barriers to entry for firms entering into that industry?These are just some of the questions you can think about when formulating your response. Note some businesses in some industries are adversely affected by COVID-19 and some are positively impacted. For example, think about the market for hand sanitizer.
Within the discussion, each person should initially provide 2 paragraphs discussing the economic implications of COVID-19 on the firm/industry they chose and addressing some of the questions I posed above, and an additional paragraph discussing their ideas/opinionsof the potential or current severity of the virus on that industry from an economic standpoint. You should refer to the questions above and/or link the discussion to a reliable source (properly citing as needed). If you do link it to a source make sure thequote or any paraphrasing does not make up the majority of your post.
