Leading across departments can be one of the most challenging things for a leader. This is because the leader has to deal with some people who do not see the need for change or others who do not want the change to happen for selfish reasons (Chaudron, 2016). Wavecom (a French-based telecommunication company) has been experiencing challenges in getting the various departments to work together for better outcomes. This paper evaluates the cross functionality of the various departments at Wavecom in order to identify the gaps that the leadership needs to improve in order to improve on collaboration, efficiency and communication.
One of the things that the company has failed to do is to have a clear charter and purpose for the various departments. It is important for the various departments to have a clear mandate of what they want to accomplish as well as the route that they have to follow in order to get the tasks done. The other challenge that has hindered collaboration at Wavecom is the lack of achievable, noticeable results.
