Vision and mission run concurrently. Though the vision statement is often tailored to have a positive allure, it emanates from a vision. A mission is a statement of the goals and values of a business. These traits are derived from the mission statement (Belgard & Rayner, 2004).
It is virtually impossible to run a business with no clear idea of where the business is headed (Belgard & Rayner, 2004). The direction of a business is dictated by the strategic plan generated by the management of the particular organization. To develop a plan, one must know what the plan is to accomplish.
