Free Work Ombudsman (FWO) serves to promote a productive, harmonious, and cooperative relations within the workplace. Employers love the FWO since it ensures, monitoring, inquiries, investigations, and enforcement of the compliance laws in places of work (Australian Trade and Investment Commission, 2020). For instance, FWO is used in assessing different employees’ complaints and suspected legal breaches within the workplace. The office of FWO works as an independent agency of the government to help both the employers and the employers to know their rights and roles under the workplace laws in Australia. Since its formulation in 2009 by the Fair Work Act, the FWO has helped in the resolution of workplace issues (FairWork.gov, n.d)). Besides compliance within the workplace, most employers love the FWO because of the JobKeeper wage-susbsidy scheme that grants qualifying not-for-profit organizations and business Government wage subsidies.
The JobKeeper wage subsidy has been critical especially during the coronavirus pandemic as employers can continue paying their workers (FairWork.gov, 2020). Besides, under the Fair Work Act, the FWO gives the employers the ability to give directions and make local arraignments with their workers to help in the management of their businesses in some situations. This will ensure that employers realize business continuity even in the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Those qualifying employers can access reimbursement of up to $1500 per fortnight from the government for every eligible worker.
