The behavioral approach in leadership emphasizes the leader’s behavior in executing tasks and maintaining responsibility. Specifically, this approach highlights the decision-making process, its effectiveness in influencing the behavior of other organization members, and its power to gain a positive response from the employees (Gordon, 2021). Many explanations have emerged concerning this approach and its importance in managerial processes. This paper shall critique two articles, which analyzed the behavioral approach and explained its effectiveness in specific settings.
Hershey (1969) questions if there is the best type of leadership. Notably, the article discussed the Ohio State Leadership Quadrants. It is divided into four, based on the initiating structure and the consideration. These include high consideration, high structure and consideration, high structure, and low structure and consideration. These are based on the behavior of the leader, which varies from the situation. Thus, no dominant leadership style emerged. Conversely, Blake et al.
