The modern workforce is extremely different in many aspects compared to the baby boomers and silent generation workforce. In the past, the workplace was characterized by respect for authority and pride in the organization. The modern workforce members tend to challenge authority and derive more pride and value from their work as opposed to the organization (Weathington & Weathington, 2020). The modern workers are more connected, with millennials and generation Z using technology in their everyday lives. Therefore, as the world becomes more interconnected, the modern workforce comprises people from different cultural backgrounds.
Give the different needs of Gen Xers and millennials, and employers must consider their affairs when developing their compensations and benefits. A healthy work-life balance is one thing that employers need to consider (Alesso-Bendisch, 2020).
