Abstract
The purpose of this assignment is to let the reader aware of biotechnology as a rising issue in biology improvements. The research focuses on gene therapy as one of the biotechnology projects, on how it works, the treatment and the type of diseases it treats. Furthermore, it explains how gene therapy is adding value to human beings by treating some genetic disorders, some virus, and some bacterial infections. The paper shows the risk that gene therapy can cause if the process goes wrong. Lastly, the research shows how gene therapy can cause unethical issues into society by performing the different task for selfish gain other than eradicating most of the incurable diseases.

The world today is transforming with the introduction of digital technology especially in biology leading to an increase in research activity, in finding treatment to some of the incurable human diseases. Biotechnology is one of the greatest inventions and application of modern technology medicine in the attempts to improve the quality of human life. Some of the critical applications of biotechnology include in vitro fertilization, DNA profiling, vaccines, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and gene therapy. The focus of this discussion is gene therapy, its uses, benefits, drawbacks as well as risks associated with the application.
Gene therapy is a fundamental application in biotechnology. Gene therapy is a process that corrects genetic disorders by introducing a better gene into a cell that is defective or missing to effect change. It is the best option of treating some genetic diseases with no cure instead of surgery and drugs (Naldini, 2015; Ibraheem, Elaissari & Fessi, 2014). Naldini (2015) adds that recent study trials of gene therapy have confirmed that the application has great therapeutic advantages including curing terminal and severely disabling conditions. Gene therapy is revolutionizing treatment and healthcare globally.
