Testing Theories of Gun Policy Preferences Among Blacks, Latinos, and Whites in America
This research utilizes data from the June 2015 YouGov.org survey on gun control. The researchers perform F-test to establish the interactions between race variables and other predictors. Researchers estimate three policy models for the racial groups and multivariate analysis is done using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression analysis.
Gun policy preference by the whites is significantly influenced by racial resentment (predictor) and other beliefs. Prevalence on beliefs such as young black men being violent has contributed greatly to issues of gun ownership among the whites.
