The increase in racial and ethnic diversity in the United States was evident in different cities. The United States Census Bureau considers some group differences to be racial and others to be purely ethnic. Additionally, the people of the European ancestry are grouped together as White while those with African ancestry are regarded as Black. For the last few decades, the demographic composition of the United States had undergone major changes and this has had significant in areas such as politics and social life among others. This paper examines how the demographics changed in the 1980s and 1990s and its implication in American society.
The United States is a diverse country and the population increase drastically between the 1980s and 19090s. The population of the white people increased about six percent, the blacks increased by 13.2 percent and the American Indians by 27.9 percent. The population of the various groups in the United States was facilitated by industrial capitalism which attracted immigrants to America between 1880 and 1920.
