Henri Matisse presented a painting of a woman seated on a stool in full ballerina wearing a crinoline tutu with a white skirt and ballet toe shoes with laces. The lady on the stool tilts her head and gazes out with the arms folded across her thighs. The skirt is made up of dried white paint set upon a blue background. On the front section, there are strips of black and white on the floor where the woman is seated. The combination of colors in the stool is so conspicuous and makes the painting more visible.
