Emotional Reactions to the Records

Essay Instructions:

1. The "Rule of Three" (150 words minimum)
Chose two of the tracks you'd most like to analyze.
Tracklist:
Radiohead - Faust arp
Fever ray - I'm not done
Beyonce - Drunk in Love
Fishbone - Unyielding Conditioning
Cardi B - I Like It
Listen to these two tracks using the focused listening techniques you've developed. When you're done listening, answer the following questions, feeling free to reference back to the track:
What were your emotional reactions to the record?
How would you organize the elements of the mix in terms of the concept of the Rule of Three?
Using the descriptions of "Told You So" and "Beep Box" as a guide, how would you describe the each of the three elements in the records you chose?
Don't feel like you have to force it—remember this is not a hard, fast rule; there may be parts of the record that jump up to more elements or even drop down to two.
2. Choose two records (single tracks) by two very different artists from your own record collection that you feel are especially well-mixed. Look online to try to find the name of the persons who mixed each record, and include this in your post, along with the artists and title of the records. (350 words minimum)
Listen to the records in fresh listening sessions, using the focused listening techniques you've been developing. Answer the following questions about the mixes of both records (one at a time), and your reactions to the records.
1. What are your emotional reactions to the record?
2. What elements besides the mix are key to the record, and how do they accomplish what they do?
3. How would you break down and describe the elements of the record in terms of the rule of three?
4. How would you describe the perception of a focal point and (if applicable) vocal placement in this mix?
5. How would you describe the frequency extension and symbiotic distribution (of the high end, mid range, and low end) of the elements in this mix?
6. How would you describe the placement and symbiotic distribution of elements in the stereo field (left-center-right)?

The two tracks I opted to listen to include; "I'm Not Done" by Fever Ray and "Drunk in Love" by Beyoncé. Even after paying much attention and listening to these two tracks, I felt mixed emotions. The first track I listened to is of Fever Ray's "I'm Not Done," which evoked feelings of strength, resilience, and determination. The second track is that of Beyoncé, which sparked emotions of passion, joy, and sensuality. When organizing the elements of the entire mix in the Rule of Three, which includes Percussion, Bass, and melody. Whereby percussion typically sets the mood, I would choose a steadier beat that typically forms or builds up a better and more energetic rhythm. In the case of bass, it usually gives a track a better and more robust foundation. I would consider adding a solid and supreme bass line in such a scenario. The third one is a melody that makes the track emotional, and I would add a memorable and catchy melody.

Q2. The elements of this record include the acoustic guitar, drums, and, finally, the vocals. Acoustic guitar normally provides a more gentle accompaniment to the entire vocals and assists in creating the overall mood of that track. The drum also provides a sense of movement, energy, and beat, making the track more enjoyable. Lastly, the vocals drive emotions.
Q3. The main elements of this track can be subdivided into three elements: vocal, acoustic guitar, and drums. The vocals provide emotion and focus, while drums provide energy and the beat. Lastly, the acoustic guitar provides a better and gentler accompaniment.<...
