Over time, more companies increasingly investing in big data and artificial intelligence. Notably, the use of big data and AI is heavy in financial services but other industry segments are heavily investing in the maturity of their data management practices. The development is heavily driven by the fear that companies will face disruption and displacement within their industry from more data-driven start-ups (New Venture Partners, 2018). To this end, big data and AI are perceived as an approach for driving agility and speed.
Based on the survey, 73.2 percent indicated that they achieved measurable results from their investments in AI and Big Data. The success of the investment varies based on the initiatives.
