Bust of a man ---- Picasso
Describe each artwork and discuss the defining characteristics of various genres and movements by using key terms (primitive, cubism, etc.) and the meaning behind it. Compare the two artworks. In which way is Picasso influenced by African art? Some critiques say that he stole the work of African artists to boost his “flagging talent” and didn’t give full credit. What’s his attitude towards African arts? It’s better if you can relate it to the book Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
