How do differences in behavior differ from hereditary traits and environmental factors?

How relevant is nature and nurture in the development of a child?

Observation study

 Separate twins at birth

Study twins who were separated

5. Discussion: The results of this study could reveal the importance, or unimportance, that environmental and genetic factors play on traits, phenotypes, and disorders. Monozygotic twins share essentially one hundred percent of the same genetic makeup; this means that any differences between the two twins is the result of an experience that one twin had, but the other did not. Using monozygotic twins, we can figure out if certain disorders or certain traits are a result of genetic makeup or the environment in which the individual grew up. If we are able to determine the results environmental or genetic influences have, we may be able to exactly pinpoint the cause of certain disorders or undesirable traits and figure out how to stop them. The findings of this study will determine if nature or nurture plays a larger part in a person’s development.
